French Ministry of Defence awards Apave Aeroservices a multi-annual services contract related to the ‘’analysis and improvement of the implementation of the military airworthiness regulations within the French Armed forces’’.

A consortium led by Apave Aeroservices and including OSAC (a 100% subsidiary of Apave) and Apave SA has been selected by the French DMAé for a multi-annual services contract (2019-2021) related to the ‘’analysis and improvement of the implementation of the military airworthiness regulations within the French Armed forces’’.

This project is addressing a major challenge for the Ministry as it concerns a fleet of 1088 aircraft from 44 different types valued 55 Billion EUR and a yearly maintenance cost of 3,5 Billion EUR.

Further to severe accidents, the French forces initiated 10 years ago a vast and detailed restructuring of their aviation activities through the introduction of a State Airworthiness monitoring. This multi-annual project consists mainly of:

  1. Analysis and impact assessment of the entire regulatory and organisational corpus of the airworthiness rules and regulations
  2. Identification, proposition and prioritisation of several optimisation scenarios
  3. Performing specific studies

Within a highly complex state / military organisation, involving many stakeholders each having different organisations and processes, the abovementioned analysis of regulatory impacts is expected to be performed in consideration of (i) Operational unavailability of aircraft fleet, (ii) Human and financial costs and (iii) Flight safety.
